Tennant on Daniel

He *sees* me. He doesn’t quite take me a face value or think I'm just a liar. He doesn't discount me. He sees the effort that I put in, all of it, all the time, all the buzzing in my head that never stops, and he recognizes how real that conscious me is. He understands me better than I do and is always the one who can pull me back to earth. He sees my heart, and he treats me with more genuine respect than I ever thought was possible. I don’t think there’s a really cruel bone in his body. He sees people, he sees into them, and he wants them to do well. So he listens. Even if he doesn't act. And I never thought someone like that could be there for someone like me.

Daniel on Tennant

He's my lighthouse. A shining beacon of strength, energy, and fun. Sufficiently cheesy? Sometimes he’s an unreasonable shithead, but... most of the time he’s actually really sweet. He feels everything so strongly, it’s hard not to be pulled in. Did you ever imagine dating your famous crush? Someone who just always dazzles you, who has so much else going on, but in your fantasy they’re always kind and attentive. He’s like that. Sometimes he’s too much, and he scares me, but that’s okay. I trust he’s always going to come back to me, sweet and purring. I wouldn’t change it.

Daniel likes Tennant for his resilience, confidence, and bright personality. Tennant is actually the more emotionally stable of the two of them in their personal life. He's sunny, sweet, and encourages Daniel to actually do things. He's also very good about providing the right kind of support when Daniel needs it, and Daniel looks up to Tennant as an admirable person who's achieved a lot, even if he's a morally dubious asshole. Also Tennant is very hot. On the other side, Tennant thinks of Daniel as something like "his good half," haha. Daniel is good-natured and reasonable and hard to shake. Tennant feels like he's dependable and won't be scared away, which is comforting. But Daniel also isn't a pushover, they have spirited disagreements and banter. Tennant feels more human around Daniel than anyone else.

They are very private about their relationship - not necessarily trying hard to hide it, but they don't talk about it or show affection in public. They just don't like to. In private, together, they tend towards the gooey sweet side of things most of the time. They like close contact and the lack of pretenses when they're alone. That said, they have their own spaces (apartments on the same floor) and don't go home together every night. Gotta have some alone time. (Kind of a side note too, but, fun fact, Tennant cooks nothing for himself and Daniel cooks everything. Tennant's fridge is full of Daniel's leftovers.)

That is the biggest question because my biggest problem is my lack of plot ideas of any kind, haha. I know that's a very annoying place your you as a writer though. The scene Kiddlet wrote with they younger was pretty much the most fleshed out idea I've had. I can name off, like, things that have happened, or how they feel about things, but I lose it at figuring out what's a short story, ahah. For the genre, I just know I've had a few people write some variation of "Tennant deals with some trouble and then they go home" so I'd like to avoid that particular setup if possible. Something that gives Daniel something to do would be nice. If you wanted the focus to be on their relationship, something more domestic might be easier because Daniel's default state in public is standing quietly.

Oh, I wouldn't say he's out maiming people all the time, haha. It's more...he's into shady stuff, he pushes people in his way and he won't let himself be intimidated. If it comes to blows so be it. His day-to-day is that he manages several clubs, strip clubs of varying levels of... classiness, I guess. He is a businessman, very schmoozy, into some dubious real estate and of course the prostitution ring behind the scenes of the clubs.


What's something that they'd fight about?
They do argue, they're both pretty stubborn types and the fact that Daniel challenges him is one of the things Tennant likes about Daniel. Some conflicts they might have, in no particular order: Daniel thinks Tennant is being too harsh on a business adversary, Daniel is annoyed about Tennant being reckless, Tennant doesn't understand what Daniel likes about some movie or something (or, in the other direction, Daniel doesn't get Tennant finding comfort in something he thinks is cheesy), Tennant is upset that Daniel isn't taking care of himself lately or is being careless by drinking at a time that he'd like more support.

• Tennant is more capable of surviving outdoors than he seems. When he was young he used to run off into the woods for as long as he could get away with.
• In case you haven't noticed Daniel has an oral fixation (and also a great big mouth fetish). He keeps toothpicks around in his pockets for when he knows he can't smoke.
• Tennant is like one of those high-maintenance dogs that needs lots of attention and exercise or he'll start getting destructive. He likes to run and has a treadmill in his apartment.
• Daniel is most attracted to people he's at least a little bit afraid of and Tennant is the total opposite of that. (Also Daniel is a monsterfucker)
• Daniel is super good at reflex-driven arcade games and pinball, but he's never bothered to get into modern video games.
• Tennant doesn't play video games besides casual puzzle games on him phone, but he is an absolute terror to play board games with.
• Daniel's first crush was on John Connor from Terminator 2. Tennant's was on his nice youth minister. One of these was much more damaging than the other.
• Tennant's fridge is full of Daniel's leftovers because he hates cooking. Tennant does Daniel's laundry in return, but Daniel hates getting it together so his apartment's full of laundry anyway.
• Tennant likes to use pet names and they all fall on a sliding scale of how much he likes you. "Sweetie" is Daniel consistently; "sweetheart", "hun" and "honey" are all pretty nice; "darlin" is more distant; "doll" means he's mad or thinks lowly of you.
• Tennant is only a social smoker and drinker. (The fact that he can smoke but isn't really addicted would annoy Daniel a lot if he had any ambition to quit.) He keeps minimal alcohol around himself because he's afraid of becoming an alcoholic.
• That said Vampire Tennant, once adjusted, would definitely drink blood from a wine glass to feel better about it.
• On his nights off without Tennant around, Daniel is a regular at an old gay bar downtown called Richard's.
